How We Work on Your Roof

A roof is a system of shingles, underlayment, flashing, decking and ventilation. When one part fails, we explain which part and why, before we talk about cost.

The cause comes first

A drip over the kitchen often starts several feet uphill at a pipe boot or a step flashing. We trace the water path before quoting, so you pay to fix the source and not just the stain.

Two options when there are two

If a repair will reasonably hold, we price it. If the roof is near the end of its life, we price replacement too and show you why, side by side.

Photos you can keep

Most homeowners never see their own roof up close. We photograph what we find, from lifted tabs to soft decking, so the estimate matches something you can look at yourself.

Materials chosen for how they age

Before you pick a shingle, we explain how its weight, the underlayment beneath it and the attic airflow behind it will handle years of freeze and thaw. Looks matter on day one, but so does year fifteen. We care about the finish as well, down to straight drip edge and clean ridge lines.

Your property treated with care

Tarps go over shrubs and patios before tear-off starts. Each evening the paved areas get swept, and a magnetic roller goes across the grass to pick up any loose roofing nails before your family walks there.

Roofing and Exterior Work for Your Home

A typical first call is about a drip, a shingle in the yard or a brown ring on a ceiling. We track down where the water enters, then tell you whether roof repair will hold or whether roof replacement is the better spend for the years you plan to stay. Roof inspections, storm damage repair, gutters and siding are part of our work too, because water that slips past one of them tends to show up at the next.

Leaks, lifted shingles, failed flashing and soft decking repaired with matched materials, after we show you what caused the problem.

    Gutters

  • Gloved hands of a worker in a tool belt fitting tan vinyl siding under a gable soffit above red brick, next to a white gutter and downspout

    Siding

Vinyl, fiber cement and engineered wood siding repaired or replaced, with the wall behind it checked and the trade-offs explained before you decide.

Where a Roof Estimate Comes From

Every roof prices out differently, and a figure offered from the curb is only a guess. These are the things that actually change the total. We walk you through each one as it applies to your home.

Your free estimate lists tear-off, materials, flashing and any decking allowance on separate lines, so nothing is bundled out of sight. New customers can also ask about our Limited Time — $50 Off Your First Service Call.

Size and pitch
Total square footage sets the material count. A steep pitch adds safety setup and slows the crew, which adds labor.
What is under the shingles
Soft or rotted decking only shows up once old layers come off. We note the likely areas during the estimate and explain how any replacement boards are priced before work starts.
Layers to remove
A second layer of shingles means more tear-off time and more disposal weight. It also lets us check the deck properly instead of covering a problem again.
Material choice
Architectural shingles, upgraded underlayment and ice and water shield at eaves and valleys each change the cost. We explain what each one does so you can decide what is worth it on your roof.
Flashing, vents and details
Chimneys, skylights, dormers and wall transitions all need flashing done by hand. More details mean more time, and these are the spots where leaks usually start.
Access and timing
A tight lot or a detached garage behind the house can change how materials are delivered and removed. Scheduling around weather can also shift the start date, though not the scope.

A Roofing Company That Explains Itself

We run this company on a simple idea: homeowners should understand what is wrong with their roof before anyone asks them to spend money on it. That means short, direct answers about the cause, the cost drivers and the options, given calmly and without pressure.

Roofs around Northern Kentucky deal with freeze and thaw cycles, ice at the eaves, summer storms and, often, years of patches layered on patches. We take care with flashing, nailing and ventilation because those small details decide how long a roof lasts, and we leave your home looking finished, not just covered.

How a Job Runs, Start to Finish

Most jobs follow the same four steps. You will know what is happening at each one.

  1. 1

    The phone call

Tell us what you are seeing and we set a time for a free estimate or a free roof inspection. A few questions on the call help us bring the right ladders and tools.

  2. 2

    On the roof

We look at shingles, flashing, vents, gutters and the attic where we can reach it. Then we sit down with you, show the photos and explain the cause in plain terms.

  3. 3

    A clear estimate

You get the repair or replacement scope, the materials and what could change once we open things up. Take your time with it.

  4. 4

    Work day and cleanup

We protect landscaping, do the work and clean up as we go. Before we leave, we walk the property with you and point out what was done.

Questions Homeowners Ask Us

Something not covered here? (859) 214-7947

Should I repair my roof or replace it?

We weigh how old the shingles are, whether the trouble sits in one spot or runs across several slopes, and whether the wood deck underneath is still solid. A few lifted shingles or a failed pipe boot on a sound roof is a repair. Curling, granule loss across most slopes or repeated leaks in different spots usually point to replacement. We price both when both are reasonable, and tell you which we would choose and why.

How much does a new roof cost?

We cannot give a fair number without seeing it. Size, pitch, layers to remove, decking condition and the materials you choose all move the price. After a free estimate you get a line-by-line breakdown, so you can see where the money goes.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Many roofs are torn off and covered again within a day or two, but size, pitch and the number of layers all change that. Decking that needs replacing or a stretch of wet weather can add time. We give you an expected schedule with the estimate and let you know if weather moves it.

I think a storm damaged my roof. What should I do first?

Have someone look before you file anything. We inspect the roof, photograph hail bruising, creased or missing shingles and damaged flashing, and tell you plainly whether the damage looks storm-related. If you decide to file, we can explain the steps and share our photos, but the adjuster makes the coverage decision. Our Storm Damage Repair page covers this in more detail.

Why does my ceiling stain appear far from the leak?

Water runs along underlayment, rafters and the top of the drywall before it drips. The stain shows where it finally fell, not where it got in. That is why we check flashing, vents and valleys uphill from the stain before recommending any fix.

Do my gutters really affect my roof?

They do. Clogged or sagging gutters let water back up under the first course of shingles and soak the fascia, and in winter they help ice build at the eaves. We look at them during every inspection and can handle gutter repair or new gutters as part of the job.

Is your work covered by a warranty?

Yes. Our work comes with a 10-year labor warranty. We go over what it covers when we hand you the estimate, so you know before the job starts.

Will I need to be home while you work?

Not for the whole day. We like to walk the roof with you at the start and the end, and we need access to an outside outlet and the driveway. Pets are happier kept inside, since tear-off is noisy.
